How much should I tip a tattoo artist and how do I tip a tattoo artist?

Ok, this might seem such a strange question (well, the second part at least) but I am planning on getting a tattoo in the future and I have no idea how much the tip should be. Also, is it appropriate to hand the cash for the tip directly to the artist them self or should it be given to the person (usually an intern) who rings the total cost up? Advice is greatly appreciated! Much thanks!

i would say as a general rule never give a tip intended for one person to another person, no matter where you are. this is money is undocumented (no paper trail: ie receipts) so there is no way to prove that you ever gave the tip or for whom the tip was intended. but yes, tip the artist well and give it directly to them.

What can a martial artist do to move up a weight class?

I want to know what a martial artist must do to move up a weight class and more importantly how can he keep the same speed when he does? I am curious about foods, supplements, and training drills for someone that fights in NHB or UFC fights.

If you are talking one weight class, that usually isn’t a problem. However most Martial Artists want to move down in weight classes as opposed to up.

Why? Well because then you are at the top of that weight division, you will be stronger and bigger, or as strong and as big as you can be.

The problem with moving up a division is that while you will make the initial weight requirement, you will be at a natural disadvantage, being weaker and at the bottom part of a division.

Let’s say for example we are talking MMA. You are thinking of moving from Middleweight 185lbs, to Light Heavyweight 205lbs.

The problem isn’t going to be how to get up past 185, I mean you can gain ten or fifteen pounds of muscle mass, hydrate up and be around 200. However, the guy you would be fighting cut weight to get to 205, and is walking around at 215 or 220lbs. Having a distinct 20lbs advantage in lean solid muscle over you.

That being said, the way to move up is easy. Maintaining your speed is a matter of training, however keep in mind with a 10lbs or more gain your body will move and feel different, and you will feel sluggish until you get used to being that weight.

Simple thing is to double your protein intake, triple it even. Consume a gram of protein for every pound you want to be in a given day. If you want to be 200lbs, eat 200lbs worth of protein. However break it up a lot during the day as your body can only break down about 20 or 30 grams of protein at a time.

Work out with heavier weight, lower reps. You can maintain explosive power by doing Olympic lifts, and circuit training, just increase your weight, and lower your reps.

Foods should be high in protien, with a moderate amount of good carbs. The more protein you eat, and the more you work out, the heavier you will be.

If you want an easy and cheap way to pack on the weight quick, keep with the heavy protein, and do a ton of heavy weight on your legs. Your legs are where you keep the majority of your weight, you can gain a good bit of weight by building up your legs, and it won’t effect your handspeed at all, plus it helps with grappling and your base.

Like I said, it is really rare for someone to want to move up a division, it puts you at a strength and weight disadvantage, because even if you gorge yourself, hydrate up and everything else and make 205, the guy you are fighting is really going to be 220lbs, he would have just cut 10 to 15lbs in water to make the division.

So my advice is look to go down in weight divisions instead of going up. It puts you at a natural size and strength advantage.

How do underground rap artist make so much money?

I wanna know how its being done, because you don’t even hear about alot of these people and they be splurging lots of money and cars and clothes. For instance rap artist Paper Chase flashing a whole stack of hundreds.

Most popular underground artist make more money independently than artist who are signed to a major record label. Underground artists do not have to give a record label a majority of their profit like artist signed to a major. A majority of the artists who are signed to a major record label (Bad Boy, Jive, Def Jam) only get about 15% of their album sale profit (after they pay for their own promotion and studio time). This especially applies to new artists. Establish artist usually get more than 15% after their 2nd or 3rd record because they renegotiate their contract. That is why you see a lot of artists going broke (TLC).

Lets say a major artist goes platinum and their cd sells for $10 a pop then the artist will only see 1.5 million dollars max. If the artist owe the record label for studio time then this will be taken out of this 1.5 million dollars profit. If you are in a group then you will have to split the profit between ever member of the group (TLC had to split 3 ways).

An independent artist will only have to sell 150,000 to make 1.5 million dollars. Independent artist usually pay for studio time and producers before they start recording so this money don’t come out of their profit.

This is why you see a lot of artist who are trying to sign with a major will also try to get their own record label (G-Unit, Shady Records, Cash Money, etc.) with the majors before they sign. People use to make fun of Master P. but he was a good business man. P was making millions independently before any major label tried to sign him. Once the majors saw the unit he was pushing, they tried to sign Master P for only 15%. He kept turning down offers until Interscope gave him an offer he couldn’t refuse. I think he gave Interscope 15% and he kept 85% of the profit. You will never see a major do this type of deal again.

This is the reason why rappers like Slim Thug, Baby, and Master P was already millionaires before they signed a major deal.

How does an artist create skin tones using a range of ballpoint pens?

Hi, I’m an artist working with ballpoint pens on paper, I’ve made some pretty nice work with simple black on white, and recently I picked up a boatload of coloured ones. So far I’ve been unsuccessful in creating a good skin tone with them. Can anyone give me pointers as to how to get a skin tone down from pens?

well, we learn in our drawing classes that by stippling, hatching, and cross hatching, we can develop different values of color. So with a ball point pen I have seen a lot of beautiful skin tones created using these techniques! Good luck and have fun!

How can I find a music artist whose song is played during the movie,but isnt mentioned in the movie credits ?

There’s this old, underground movie from the early eighties with a song playing during a particular scene (the song is playing on the car radio). The movie makes no mention of the artist or song.I would like to know the name of the artist and a way I can get a copy of the song ? I’m interested in sampling it.

occasionally, if a song is part of the score, it’s not listed in the end credits. this is especially true if it’s background in a scene. (case in point, there’s a really great song in the gas station scene of "reality bites" that’s not in the credits.)

i would look in the credits for who scored the film and see if you can figure it out that way.

or maybe if you tell us the name of the film or some of the lyrics we can help you.
