Is it legal to download YouTube vidoes with permission from the video creators?

Can I download videos from YouTube onto my computer with a third-party program, if I have the makers of the video’s permission, legally?

Yes, and if you only download the video for your own personal viewing, you don’t even need ANY permission.

It is called "fair use" and this is the reason why video recorders for TV are legal, even though broadcast companies in the past tried to make them illegal.

BTW, *many* people will try to tell you that you need special software to download from YouTube. That is not true. You can visit http://www.PwnYouTube.com to learn the easiest possible way to download that I have ever seen.

If you download the high quality mp4 version, you can watch using Apple’s Quick Time, which most people already have installed. If you download the standard FLV version, you may need to download a FLV viewer or need to convert the file to a different format. Links for both viewers are on PwnYouTube

  2. Of course it is. But you shouldn’t repost the video back onto youtube. That would be copyrighting. If you were to put it on your ipod, psp, etc. That would be fine.

    it is the easiest (and also the fastest) way.

    Zillatube easily download videos from Youtube… to your computer, and more (e.g. it will help you convert them, or just watch them easily anytime you want).
